To Deo or Not to Deo
Why I Created My Own Natural Deodorant
This range of deodorants came into existence after a visit to my gym a while back. I remember standing in the changing room, noticing how many women were still using well-known aerosol anti-perspirants. It genuinely surprised me.
I had assumed by now that more people were aware of the concerns around ingredients like aluminium in these products — especially with newer studies showing elevated levels of this metal in breast tissue. But clearly, not everyone is on the same page, and I don’t say that with judgment. It just made me stop and think.
Here's one thing I think a lot of people still may not realise: there's a difference between deodorants and anti-perspirants.
Deodorants help neutralise odour but still allow you to sweat.
Anti-perspirants are designed to block sweat altogether, usually with aluminium-based ingredients.
Now, sweating isn’t just something our bodies do for fun — it plays a key role in detoxing, temperature control, and overall skin health. And if I wasn’t comfortable using what was on the shelves, I figured I’d make something better, something natural that actually worked.
Aluminium compounds are still used in many commercial products to control odour and block sweat. But in my experience, they’re not essential. Natural ingredients like bicarbonate of soda and magnesium hydroxide can be just as effective and a lot kinder to your skin.

Making the Switch
If you’re thinking about switching to a natural deodorant, it’s worth knowing that your body may go through a bit of a transition. This isn’t a detox in the dramatic sense — it’s just your skin adjusting, especially if it’s been used to having pores blocked for years.
You might notice:
A bit more sweating at first (totally normal)
A temporary increase in odour (your skin’s microbiome rebalancing)
Some trial and error finding the right formula for you
But once your body adjusts, most people find it’s a great switch to make. And for me personally, the peace of mind is worth it.
Final Thoughts
This isn’t about fear or guilt — it’s about choice. I wanted something that felt good, worked well, and didn’t come with a long list of questionable ingredients. So I made it.
If you're curious, try it. If you're not ready, that's okay too. But if you've been wondering whether there's a better way to care for your body, and let it do what it's meant to do, then maybe natural deodorant might could be your answer.
